Welcome to the online home of Chasing440 Bluegrass!

Playing a blend of traditional and contemporary mountain music in the time honored tradition of a front porch pickin' party this recently formed string group is stepping out.

Fronted by the hard driving vocal style of lead quitarist David Benway the band has quickly adapted to his "Dylan'esque style of never singing or playing the same way twice"

Arnold Royea saws the strings for the band on fiddle and carries our melody on mandolin .. listen in to Shady Grove or Wagon Wheel and you'll appreciate why we think  this multi-instrumentalist is the soul of what we do.

Sliding into our signature sound is young Bill Masse on the Dobro.  A true musician, Bill can actually read those little black notes on sheet music!  A multi-instrumentalist himself, Bill chooses to stamp his mark on the band using his skill on slide and boy we are thankful.

Branching out a bit in 2011 has brought the exciting talent of young Mike Ryan to the group.  Mike is steppin out with his banjo to give us that classic bluegrass sound and adding harmony vocals.  A multi-instrumentalist, Mike will also step up with his Blueridge flattop or rip a melody on mandolin on occasion.. and if you ask nice he might even croon a ballad and steal the heart of any fair maiden who listens in.
